Yingkou Steel keeps steel plate export price flat

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Sep 15 - Being located in Yingkou, Liaoning Province, Yingkou Steel stays among the major steel plate producers and exporters in North China, with an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tons. The mill keeps its steel plate export price stable this week, after a markdown of USD5-10/t in past two weeks.
A sales official from the mill offers USD300/t FOB Tianjin for steel plate SS400 14-20mm, equaling to last week.
According to the source, considering RMB shows signs of appreciating, he does not plan to cut export offers again right now, though the demand from oversea buyers remains weak. He explains that most oversea buyers were waiting for a lower price in past two weeks in view of the depreciation of RMB, and he had to decrease quotations at that time to guarantee export volumes.
In the meantime, he points out that as September is the traditional peak season for steel plate, most producers and exporters like him pin hope on the market this month, and they are reluctant to lower quotations. Besides, the price of the raw material, steel billet in North China has been stable at RMB1,710/t (USD269/t) in recent one week, and thus the cost support heightens. With a projected export-volume of 100,000t per month, he is not sure whether it can reach this level or not in September.
