BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Jul 15 - The steel plate price keeps temporarily stable in Vietnam at the moment after continuous declines in past two months
A trader in Haiphong tells Asian Metal that his quotation for steel plate SS400 16-20mm imported from China is VND9,600,000/t (USD440/t) VAT included, the same as last week.
Currently the source holds a regular stock of 500t in hand and does not plan to supplement it, believing the price is likely to decrease again in the short term. According to him, as it is the rainy season, the demand from downstream industries remains soft and the selling performance remains unsatisfying . In addition, support from purchase cost weakens as Chinese exporters cut quotations in succession.
Another trader in Ho Chi Minh offers VND9,500,000/t (USD435/t) VAT included for steel plate SS400 16-20mm imported from China, unchanged over last week.
Holding a low stock of 1,000t in hand against the regular level of 2,000t, the source is a little bit pessimistic about the market prospect and supposes the price is likely to go back to downward trend in the near future. According to him, considering steel plate prices in Chinese domestic market have been decreasing in recent two months, most traders in Vietnam think the export price is likely to go down to USD300/t FOB in coming weeks and the selling price in Vietnam will definitely decrease.
. Nevertheless, most traders show no confidence in the market outlook and they are worried about a price decrease next week.
