Indonesian angle steel market sluggish

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 May 15 - Angle steel market in Indonesia remains inactive with domestic prices showing signs of decreasing. Insiders believe that the angel steel market in Indonesia will continue to run slowly for some time.
A section steel trader in Surabaya says that the price of angle steel SS400 40mm*40mm*4mm is IDR6,400,000/t (USD640/t), unchanged compared with that of last week.
The source tells Asian Metal that the demand for angle steel is quite soft in Indonesia at this moment, and his sales performance is not satisfying at all. To avoid risks, he almost has no stock for the time being, while he used to hold a regular inventory of 1,000t in former years. He believes that local angle steel market will keep running slowly in the remaining days of this month.
A building contractor in Medan reports that the current purchasing price for angle steel SS400 40mm*40mm*4mm from local steel mills is IDR6,200,000/t (USD620/t), decreasing by IDR200,000/t (USD20/t) compared with that of two weeks ago.
According to him, the construction industry is very sluggish in Indonesia at this moment, and he doesn’t have many projects to deal with this month. He discloses that steel prices in Indonesia have begun to go down intermittently since April and end users like him are cautious about placing orders under such a condition. As for the coming market, he is not confident at all.
