Malaysian angle steel market inactive

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 May 15 - Angle steel prices are temporarily unchanged in Malaysia, while the market remains inactive with downstream demand being weak. Insiders believe that Malaysian angle steel market is unlikely to turn much better within a short term.
A steel trader in Selangor said that the current price of angle steel SS400 50mm*50mm*5mm is MYR1,600/t (USD444/t), the same as that of last week.
The source tells Asian Metal that end users’ purchasing attitudes are not active for the time being and most of them just buy in small quantities to meet their urgent needs. He discloses that since the demand is not strong, he only holds a small inventory of 70t against the target one of 200t to avoid risks. He believes that local angle steel market will remain sluggish for some time.
Another steel trader in Selangor reported that the current price of angle steel SS400 50mm*50mm*5mm is MYR1,650/t (USD458/t), unchanged compared with that of last week.
The source discloses that his offer is temporarily unchanged, but it is still MYR50/t (USD14/t) lower than the average price in April. According to him, since his sales performance is not satisfying, he has to move down offers occasionally to promote sales. Considering the sluggish construction industry, he doesn’t believe local angle steel market will improve in the near future.
