AM Statistics: China's imported bauxite stocks up by 1% MOM to 30 million tones late April

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 May 15 - According to Data Base of Asian Metal, China’s imported bauxite stocks edged up by 1% MOM to around 30 million tones in late April. Data shows that Chinese consumption for imported bauxite improved by 1.2% MOM to around 4.3 million tones in April.

The graph shows that imported bauxite stocks in China got back to 30 million tones again in late April. In March, China imported around 4.4 million tones of bauxite and Malaysian bauxite supply climbed up significantly. However, Chinese demand for imported bauxite did not improve significantly in April.

In May, Chinese bauxite imports from Malaysia will decrease because of strict inspection on bauxite trucks transportation. Meanwhile, some new alumina projects in Shandong province may come on stream. Therefore, it is predicted that China’s imported bauxite stocks in late May will slide down to below 30 million tones again.
