China's refined lead exports up by 79.59% YOY in H1 2014

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 29 Jul 14 - According to data published by China Customs, China’s refined lead exports totaled 15,676t during the first half of 2014, up by 79.59% year-on-year.
China exported 2,618t of refined lead ingots during June 2014, up by 15.69% month-on-month and 63 . 21% year-on-year.
The following table shows China’s refined lead export destinations and the export quantities in June 2014.
China’s refined lead ingots were mainly exported to Asian countries or areas. However, the export volumes were limited . Although there was a sharp increase in lead ingot exports in the first half of 2014, it had little impact on the Chinese lead ingot market . The export volumes only accounted for around 1% of the total output of the metal in China.
The following chart shows China’s refined lead ingot exports from January 2013 to June 2014.
Most Chinese participants had little interest in exporting the metal due to the lower prices on the overseas market and the 10% export tax, so the export volumes may continue to linger at around 2,000-3,000t per month in the second half of this year.
China only imported 43t of refined lead ingots in June 2014. The imports totaled 137t in the first half of 2014, down by 71 . 61% year-on-year.
