Carbonate strontium market quiet with few deals concluded

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Mar 14 - Carbonate strontium 97% market remains quiet as most consumers prefer to hold wait-and-see attitudes towards the further market. However, limited by production cost, suppliers refuse to lower offers further.
A carbonate strontium 97% producer in South China claimed that they make an offer of RMB4,600/t (USD746/t) ex works for carbonate strontium 97% now, unchanged from that of last week. The plant resumed production after the Spring Festival and it can produce 1,000 tons of the material per month at present.
According to the source, the last small deal was concluded at RMB4,600/t (USD746/t) ex works with a regular client a few days ago.
An end user which is a strontium metal 99%min producer in South China confirmed that carbonate strontium 97% market continues to see rare deals concluded with the mainstream prices hovering at RMB4,600-4,800/t (USD746-779/t) ex works at present, unchanged from those of last week. They prefer to adopt conservative purchasing strategies in the near term.
The source revealed that the plant used to produce 80 tons of strontium metal 99%min per month but they have no intention to rebuild carbonate strontium 97% stocks as they haven’t resumed production.
