End of Summit
The 16th International Aluminum Raw Materials Summit, hosted by Asian Metal, successfully concluded in Haikou on May 29. The summit received strong sponsorship and support from KBM Mining Co., Ltd. (Guinea), Ghana Bauxite Company (GBC), Wansa Group Commodities UK Ltd., African Oil Supply Co., Ltd. (AOS), and Hetuo (Xiamen) Supply Chain Co., Ltd. The presentations covered the three major sectors of bauxite, alumina, and electrolytic aluminum. A total of 12 speakers came from eight countries, including China, Guinea, India, Ghana, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Indonesia, and Turkey.
The summit attracted over 300 delegates from nearly 20 countries, including China, Guinea, Australia, Ghana, Türkiye, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, the UAE, the United Kingdom, Romania, Russia, Pakistan, Germany, and South Korea. The attendees covered the entire industrial chain, including bauxite production, trading, logistics, equipment, finance, as well as alumina and electrolytic aluminum production and trading.
With "Aluminum Raw Materials" as its theme, Asian Metal is committed to creating an "International Platform, Featured Summit"!

Topic: The Bauxite, Alumina and Aluminium Supply & Growth in India and Vietnam
India currently has an alumina production capacity of approximately 11.3 million tons per year, expected to reach 15 million tons per year by 2030. Electrolytic aluminum capacity is 4 million tons/year, and recycled aluminum capacity is 2 million tons/year. Vietnam, with the world's third-largest bauxite reserves and two operating alumina refineries, stands at a critical turning point in its industrial development. Its total estimated bauxite reserves are 5.8 billion tons, ranking third globally, and its current alumina capacity is 1.3 million tons/year.

Guinea's bauxite mining areas are basically located in the central-western part of the country, generally far from the coast. To date, around 20 bauxite mining and export companies have started operations in Guinea. Bauxite is mainly loaded at 18 jetties along two major inland rivers, of which 9 jetties are in the Kambsar port area, 6 in Boffa port, 2 at Cap Verga port, 1 at Conakry port, and 1 at Kanta port.

Topic: Report on The Alumina Supply in Shanxi and Bauxite Demand Structure
As of March 2026, there are 12 operating alumina refineries in Shanxi, with a total capacity of 18 million tons. Among these, the capacity using imported bauxite exceeds 12 million tons. Only one refinery uses exclusively domestic bauxite, five refineries use exclusively imported bauxite, and the rest use a mix of imported and domestic bauxite. In 2025, Shanxi consumed 28.44 million tons of imported bauxite, ranking second in China, with the vast majority being Guinean bauxite.

Ghana Bauxite Company (GBC) is the only current bauxite producer in Ghana. Founded in 1921, the company began operations in the 1940s and is headquartered at Awaso in the Western North Region. Its annual bauxite export volume is about 2 million tons. The company currently plans to build an alumina project with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons, targeted for commissioning in 2030, with an estimated investment of USD1.2 billion.

Topic: Report on the Aluminum Industry Growth in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan's proven total bauxite reserves are estimated at about 160 million tons, with an annual output of approximately 4.3-5.2 million tons. Alumina production is 1.3-1.6 million tons per year, with about 0.8-1.0 million tons exported annually. The existing annual capacity for electrolytic aluminum is 270,000 tons, with plans to expand to 500,000 tons.

Southeast Asia has bauxite reserves of nearly 20 billion tons, accounting for about 30% of the global total, ranking as one of the three major supply bases along with Guinea and Australia. The six Middle Eastern countries (Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Oman) have a combined electrolytic aluminum capacity of about 7 million tons per year, with output of 6.8-7.0 million tons/year, while alumina output is 4.49 million tons/year, giving a self-sufficiency rate of only 34%.

Topic: Alumina Industry Development and Bauxite Demand in India
As of 2025, India's total bauxite resources are approximately 5 billion tons, with reserves of 600 million tons. India's aluminum production is expected to increase by about 3.5 million tons per year over the next 5-6 years. By around 2030, India's total aluminum industry capacity is expected to reach 10.9 million tons per year. India's alumina capacity is projected to increase to 15-16 million tons per year.

By the end of 2025, Indonesia's alumina capacity reached 10 million tons. It is expected to surge to 13 million tons by 2027, with a medium-to-long-term plan to reach 25 million tons. Topic: Analysis of Turkey's Bauxite Supply and Export Market
Turkey has total bauxite resources of 422 million tons and reserves of 69 million tons. Output was about 3.66 million tons in 2024 and about 4.3 million tons in 2025. Turkey's bauxite mining areas are concentrated in regions such as Milas and Izmir, facilitating stable supply. Its high-quality high-temperature bauxite is very similar to Chinese local bauxite.

In 2025, global iron ore seaborne volume reached 1.64 billion tons, bauxite seaborne volume 250 million tons, and coal seaborne volume 1.33 billion tons. Guinea's bauxite shipments in 2025 amounted to 180 million tons, accounting for 80% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 26%. Over the past three years, the average Capesize freight rate was USD26/t, the strongest in a decade. The outlook for 2026 is generally strong, with a forecast of USD25–31/t (West Africa to China) in the second half. The outlook for 2027 is gradually shifting toward stronger supply and weaker demand.
