Overview
Impacted by the low performance of the steel industry in 2012, brown fused alumina market continued the downward trend with the H2 being the most severe for producers owing to huge losses incurred during the period which saw brown fused alumina prices at its lowest level in years as producer barely able to cover variable production cost.
As a result of future uncertainty created by the weak market, many producers have been forced to scale down or shut operations whilst waiting for global steel recovery to pick up steam before resuming production of the material.
With future rebound time-line still unknown and uncertain as profit continues to dwindle, demand for white fused alumina has also declined with producers operating at margins. How do white fused alumina producers continue to leverage in the market is as important as the overall performance of the steel sector on which the former is dependent upon.
As the American economy is slowly improving with the European debt crisis not of great concern anymore and Euro stabilizing due to relative confidence in the capital and stock markets, improving export of alumina products becomes priority for stakeholders.
In furtherance of this, Asian Metal is inviting most influential and leading companies and counterparts from the industry from all around the world to discuss the above mentioned issues. The summit is designed to build an international platform of information exchange, cooperation for and among all the global producers, traders, consumers, research institutes, associations as well as financial organizations in a win-win situation.
