After the global economic crisis broke out in 2008, bismuth metal price decreases sharply. With the worldwide economy walks out of the most difficult times in the second half of 2009, bismuth end-users come to replenish raw materials, but the market is not completely active.

Demand for bismuth metal in electronics, automobile and pigments industries descends sharply and low-melting alloys and pigments prices also drop, so many bismuth smelters either reduce their outputs or shut down so as to avoid potential risks. The bismuth market is also influenced by other nonferrous metals markets and the policies. Will the hopeful year of 2010 witness a reviving bismuth market?

In the long term, bismuth metal, the green metal, is expected to be widely used in various sectors, along with the issuing and implementing of REACH code by European Union and the reinforcement of environmental protections around the world. However, the limitation of bismuth export, exploitation, consumption and protection in China and other countries as well as capricious prices from USD3/lb to approximately USD20/lb in past nine years prevent end-users from booking the raw materials or employing it in large scale. How to maintain the market stability? How to establish a healthy consuming market? Which way to choose for a new development?

At World Bismuth Forum 2009, Asian Metal will invite the most influential companies and experts from the bismuth industry to discuss the above hot issues. The forum is designed to build an international platform of information exchange and strengthen cooperation among all the global bismuth smelters, traders, consumers, research institutes, associations as well as financial organizations.

Senior officials from relevant national committees will be invited to clarify and detail macro-controlling policies and export strategies on the development of Chinese bismuth industry.

Senior executives from well-known major market players in the industry from both China and the rest of the world will give their unique and insightful views on the development and outlook of bismuth metal and its relevant markets.

Professional editors from world-renowned media outfits, such as Xinhua Agency, Reuters, Interfax and Bloomberg will be invited to attend and report this summit.
