  • Jan-Philipp Mai has been active since 2001 with energy efficient extraction of silicon. During his study of machine technology, he founded JPM Silicon GmbH with the goal to make energy-efficient solutions available to the silicon industry. He holds a diploma in mechanical engineering from the University of Braunschweig and founded JPM Silicon in 2010 as a technology and service provider for the silicon and solar silicon industry. Today JPM Silicon has gained a unique microwaves, process design and modeling. With ten employees JPM Silicon operates a state of the art pilot-plant for individual process development. The company serves customers along the whole silicon and solar silicon industry - from mining of raw materials to silicon production and recycling.

  • Merete Tangstad is professor at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology). Merete took her Master degree and PhD degree at NTNU. In the following years, she worked for Elkem and Eramet, ferroalloy – and silicon producers. The main focus was furnace operation including raw materials, energy consumption and product quality. Since 2004, she has been a professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology within Material Science and Engineering, again with the main emphasis on ferro-alloy-, silicon- production and upgrading metallurgical silicon to solar-grade silicon.

  • David Stefansson joined Silicor Materials in 2013 to lead the company’s efforts in building its initial production facility in Iceland. He is a business development professional and renewable energy consultant with extensive managerial experience and a proven track record of success with projects spanning the private and public sectors, in Iceland and worldwide. Stefansson earned an MPA from Harvard University.
