Overview
Asian Metal is pleased to announce the 1st Annual European Silicon conference, to be held on the 26th-27th of May, 2016 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Usually held in China, Asian Metal is excited to bring the conference to Europe for the first time where producers, traders, and consumers of silicon metal across the globe will congregate to discuss the developments and outlook of the global silicon industry.
Asian metal are excited to host the conference in Iceland, the site of numerous new silicon production plants due to come online over the year. The event will see a good mixture of attendees from varying backgrounds, be it scientific, governmental or more closely involved with the global market, and will certainly provide fantastic opportunities for attendees to further their understanding of the global industry and make new connections.
The global industry enjoyed a positive 2014, a trend which appeared to be continuing into 2015, however faltering aluminium and steel industries as well as broader global economic woes has seen a more negative second half to the year where the market has been characterised by falling prices for material, lower demand from consumers and an oversupply of material to the market with the European market in particular being oversupplied by cheaper material from China as well as more expensive European-produced material.
