Chinese PrNd mischmetal price dips slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 2 Sep 15 - After a slight increase in last week, Chinese PrNd mischmetal prices dropped a bit to RMB294,000-296,000/t (USD45,938-46,250/t) by bill payment, with a decrease of around RMB1,000/t (USD156.3/t) from those of late last week. NdFeB magnet producers make purchase from hand to mouth. It is predicted that the price will show steady trend in the coming one week.
A producer in North China shared with Asian Metal that current PrNd mischmetal price slides to RMB296,000/t (USD46,250/t) by bill payment, down by around RMB1,000/t (USD156.3/t) from that of late last week. “I sold around 5 tons of PrNd mischmetal at RMB297,000/t (USD46,406/t) by bill payment last week. The current price dropped to RMB296,000/t (USD46,250/t) by bill payment. Our clients adopt hand-to-mouth purchasing strategy,” said the producer.
With an annual production capacity of around 1,200 tons of PrNd mischmetal, the plant has produced around 50 tons of the material per month so far this year owing to the dim demand and declining price. The plant has around 300 tons of stocks now.
"We purchased around 2 tons of PrNd mischmetal at RMB294,000/t (USD45,938/t) by bill payment in early this week. Some suppliers raised the price last week, but the market witnessed dropping price this week. We always make purchases for immediate use no matter the price goes up or down,” said a consumer in South China.
With an annual consumption of around 250 tons of PrNd mischmetal, the consumer uses PrNd mischmetal to produce NdFeB magnet, and has consumed around 15 tons of the material per month so far this year as a result of flat NdFeB magnet industry. He has an inventory of around 1 ton at present.
