As steel mills continued to press down purchasing prices of ferrochrome, Chinese ferrochrome prices in spot market kept falling with weak demand and few deals in August. Meanwhile, chrome ore prices dropped marginally, so many ferrochrome smelters had to suspend or decrease their outputs greatly. As foreign suppliers insisted on high offers of chrome ore, it was inactive for Chinese buyers to purchase chrome ore. It was expected in September Chinese ferrochrome prices would go down further and chrome ore prices would follow suit.
