The rainy season to influence the Indian bauxite export

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Apr 14 - The rainy season is coming in India, which will influence the bauxite export of the country. The rainy season may last for around five months.
An Indian bauxite exporter revealed that the rainy season will come in June, and their bauxite export will be affected greatly. “The rainy season will last until to October,” said the source, noting that they will suspend bauxite export during the season.
According to the bauxite owner, they mainly export bauxite to Japan right now and the price for bauxite Al 48%min Si 4.5%max is around USD51/t FOB India. “We now export around 33,000t of bauxite to Japan each month,” said the source, adding that it is difficult for Chinese buyers to accept the current high offer.
Considering the rising demand from China, the owner plans to export bauxite to Chinese market from this November and the export volume will depend on the market.
A bauxite trader in China confirmed that the rainy season is coming in India and their bauxite import will be affected from late May. “We are considering other resources like Turkey bauxite,” said the source, noting that the rainy season may last to September.
The trader just concluded around 100,000t of Indian bauxite and the price for bauxite Al 45%min Si 7-8% is around USD56-57% CFR China. “Many Chinese consumers face capital turnover problem and it is hard to conclude deals,” said the source.
