BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 13 - The ex-works price of Chinese manganese flake sees a markup of RMB100/t (USD16/t) to RMB13,500-13,700/t (USD2,174-2,206/t) due to better demand from domestic end users. Participants disclosed that more deals are concluded as many steel mills start their monthly procurements for manganese.
A Guangxi-based manganese producer told Asian Metal that his quotation for manganese flake is at RMB13,700/t (USD2,206/t) for the time being, increasing by RMB100/t (USD16/t) compared with that of the last trading day.
With a production capacity of over 1,000tpm for manganese flake, the source claimed that more deals are concluded in the domestic market this week, which leads to the price increase. “Many steel mills have started the monthly procurement for manganese,” said the source. “And we sold 300t of the material at the above-mentioned price these two days.”
A Shanxi-based manganese trader who purchases manganese flake from a leading manganese producer in North China confirmed that the mainstream ex-works price of manganese flake increases by RMB100/t (USD16/t) to RMB13,500-13,700/t (USD2,174-2,206/t) as the demand turns better in the domestic market.
“We mainly supply manganese flake to local steel mills, and we even received many inquiries from customers in Hunan Province in the past two days,” said the source. With a sales volume of 50-100tpm for manganese flake, the source revealed that they purchased 50t of the material at RMB13,700/t (USD2,206/t) from the regular supplier on March 27th.
