Antimony trioxide suppliers raise offer

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Aug 12 – As major antimony trioxide producers bought in antimony ingot recently, the price of antimony ingot rebounded a little, and then some antimony trioxide suppliers raised their offers to RMB61,000-62,000/t (USD9,591-9,748/t) ex works for antimony trioxide 99.5%min, up by RMB1,000/t (USD157/t), in the name of the production cost increase.
A Hunan-based producer with an output of about 300-400tpm told Asian Metal that he offered about RMB62,000/t (USD9,748/t) ex works for antimony trioxide 99.5%min currently, up by RMB1,000/t (USD157/t) from that of early this week. “Our production cost increased as many antimony ingot suppliers raised their offers, so we lift our offer accordingly,” said the source.
The source also revealed the market runs slowly with most buyers purchasing from hand to mouth, waiting the price to go down. “In view of the oversupply in antimony market, the price is likely to go down,” said the source. “However, most producers suffer great losses, and refuse to lower the price.”
A Guangdong-based trader with a trading volume of about 100tpm told Asian Metal he offered RMB62,000/t (USD9,748/t) delivered for antimony trioxide 99.5%min this week, RMB1,000/t (USD157/t) higher than that of early this week. “It is hard to get antimony ingot 99.65%min (raw material of antimony trioxide) at below RMB69,500/t (USD10,928/t) ex works,” said the source.
The source thinks the market will continue a slow movement in the following weeks as no good news stimulates the market. “Only producers are supporting the price,” said the source.
