  • Tangshan ramps up efforts to reduce emissions from steel industry

    Tangshan Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment said it will ramp up efforts to tackle air pollution caused by emissions from iron and steel companies.Asian Metal Copyright Relevant steel companies are asked to meet carbonic oxide CO emission reduction requirements by March 18, so far with 239 problems already solved and 102 problems remaining to be solved, and complete other emission treatment projects by June 15.Asian Metal Copyright Starting on February 23, the bureau will resort to a reporting mechanism which will provide upgrade to the emission cuts on a daily basis.

    Relevant steel companies are asked to meet carbonic oxide (CO) emission reduction requirements by March 18, so far with 239 problems already solved and 102 problems remaining to be solved, and complete other emission treatment projects by June 15.

    Additionally, the bureau will provide daily update to emission treatment progress through newspaper, television and Wechat official accounts. Companies with slow progress will be summoned for inquiry, and those failing to complete treatment before deadlines will be forced to suspend production.
