Kaiman Aluminum resumes normal alumina production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Jan 21 - Kaiman Aluminum (Sanmenxia) Co., Ltd., a major alumina producer in Hennan of China, resumed normal operation in early January and would produce around 180,000t of alumina this month, up from around 140,000t last month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We resumed normal operation from early this month and might produce 180,000t this month, up from around 140,000t last month," said the source, who cut production from the middle of last month for the air pollution alert and holds no stock now. With five production lines and the annual production capacity of 2.2 million tons, they produced around 2 million tons in 2020, similar to 2019. They focus on Chinese local bauxite consumption, with present inventories lasting for around 20 days.
Current mainstream alumina prices in China stand at RMB2,320-2,370/t (USD358-366/t) EXW, around RMB10/t (USD1.5/t) higher than early this week because of the slow transportation in Shanxi. Prices might continue to edge up in the coming two weeks.
