It's learned from Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone that Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earth (BRIRE) reached a technology transfer agreement with a technology company based in Chengdu to build a rare-earth heat-insulation material production line with a monthly output of 800kg and an estimated investment of RMB20 million (USD3.Asian Metal Copyright .Asian Metal Copyright05 million) in the first phase.

According to Dr. Yin Jian of the BRIRE, the research team successfully developed kilogram-scale production methods of rare-earth heat-insulating material below 100 nanometers by using a unique electronic structure and physical and chemical properties of rare earths, and various heat-insulating agents and powders can be made based on the methods.

At present, this new material was registered and authorized three product trademarks, and signed agency agreements with nearly 100 dealers in more than ten provinces across China.
