1. Market Highlights
Supported by the tight supply, slight demand recovery and sharply increased raw materials' prices, CRC and HGI coil mainstream prices in Chinese major markets continued to climb up in the early and middle December. In late December, prices began to fall back after they touched the peak as downstream customers became cautious in placing orders after prices increased so much. By the end of the month, CRC and HGI coil prices in major markets soared by around RMB500/t (USD77/t) and RMB800/t (USD124/t) respectively compared with one month ago. Steel mills kept lifting export prices in December given the rising demand in the global market.
In the international market, CRC and HGI coil prices in many Asian countries including Malaysia, Vietnam and India went up sharply and obviously this month upon increased production cost and demand recovery.
