Russia plans to impose export duties on rebar and steel billet

FAS, the anti-monopoly service in Russia, plans to impose a 13% duty on rebar exports and a 12% duty on steel billet exports.
Marat Khusnullin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, wrote to the Ministry of Industry and Trade demanding additional export duties on all metal products (from raw materials to finished goods) for six months.
The service plans to impose tariffs of 15% but not less than USD49/t on non-metallic exports, 13% but not less than USD73/t on steel billet exports, and 12% but not less than USD78/t on rebar exports.
The price of rebar rose by 40% in Russia in the past month, said Mr. Khusnullin.
