1. Market Highlights
Chinese HC ferrochrome prices edged down in October following up with declining prices of raw material chrome ore; Chinese LC ferrochrome prices also edged down. However, supported by lower exchanged rate of USD to RMB, export prices of Chinese LC ferrochrome were firm. In addition, silicochromium prices were flat this month.
In October, Chinese chrome metal sellers raised prices slightly in view of higher cost resulted from rising prices of chromic salt. FOB prices of chrome metal were firm since sellers had strong willingness to maintain prices in spite of sparse exports.
This month, Chinese chrome ore sellers cut offers for sales due to limited transactions, so prices of South African and Turkish chrome ore in Chinese ports both trended down. Late this month, prices of South African chrome ore picked up a little stimulated by the news about export tax. Although overseas sellers kept prices firm, downstream buyers placed orders cautiously, leaving flat CIF China prices for chrome ore.
