MNR releases China Mining Resources Report 2020

Recently, Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) released the China Mining Resources Report 2020, according to which China invested RMB99.34 billion (USD14.82 billion) in geological survey in 2019 and discovered 79 mineral deposit, including 55 medium and large ones. By the end of 2019, the reserves of natural gas, manganese, bauxite and other 31 key mineral resources increased. The investment in fixed assets of mining industry grew by 24.1% and China was still the largest producer and consumer of ten nonferrous metals, gold and cement in the world.
In 2019, the newly verified reserves of coal sat at 30.01 billion tons, a significant decline from last year. In terms of major metallic mineral products, the figure of manganese ore, copper ore, lead ore, zinc ore, tungsten ore, molybdenum ore and silver ore increased notably, while that of iron ore, nickel ore, tin ore and gold ore fell substantially. In terms of non-metallic mineral products, the figure of phosphate ore and graphite showed an obvious uptrend.
