China's new energy vehicle sales sharply up by 99.6% YOY in Sep 2020

On October 13th, CPCA released the vehicle market data in September 2020. Passenger vehicle retail sales were 1.91 million units in September 2020, up by 7.3% YOY and representing an increase of about 8% for three consecutive months, the highest increasing level in the recent two years. It's worthy to be noticed that the new energy market, of which the recovery speed was slower than that of the overall vehicle market before, saw a substantial recovery in September 2020 with new energy vehicle wholesales up sharply by 99.6%.
The new energy passenger vehicle wholesales passed 125,000 units in China in September 2020, up by 99.6% YOY and 24.1% MOM. In particular, sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles were 22,000 units, up by 55% YOY; those of battery electric vehicles were 102,000 units, an increase of 105% on year-on-year basis.
