Chinese magnesia market: Prices of caustic calcined magnesia, high purity dead burned magnesia and fused magnesia dropped sharply in China in August 2020 as producers of these specifications of magnesia still bore great pressure of stocks. Meanwhile, prices of other specifications of magnesia generally kept steady owing to firm production costs of limited pressure of stocks stood by producers of these products. In addition, some major producers cut their stocks in large volumes during August 2020 as they cut their outputs and boosted sales at lower prices.
Chinese magnesia export market: The demand for Chinese magnesia was stable in Japan and South Korea in August 2020, but that in Europe and America was sluggish owing to the summer break there. Nevertheless, European and American customers sent more enquiries to prepare for purchases in September and October 2020. Besides, RMB appreciated further in August 2020, but export prices of Chinese magnesia declined rather than go up owing to limited export transactions and the downward price trend in the domestic market.
