Shandong adjusts coal capacity reduction plan in 2020

Recently, Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued the notice on publishing the adjustment plan for resolving coal overcapacity in 2020 (hereinafter referred to as the "notice"), which clearly proposes that Shandong will plan to eliminate 26.21 million tons of coal overcapacity in 2020. Among them, eight coal mines are planned to be closed with 8.06 million tons of production capacity will be eliminated, 6.31 million tons of production capacity of 29 coal mines will be reduced, and 11.84 million tons of coal production capacity index will be purchased from other provinces.
In March this year, Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced a target of reducing the province's coal overcapacity this year. The target at that time was 9.94 million tons, including the closure of seven coal mines with the production capacity elimination of 7.61 million tons, and five coal mines with the production capacity reduction of 2.33 million tons. After the adjustment of the plan, the province added 16.27 million tons of coal overcapacity reduction task.
