Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technology recently stated that Talco Gold Project, the Sino-Tajik joint venture, will be forced to delay going into operation for at least one year.
The spread of the Covid-19 is the major reason for the delay of the project. Affected by the spread of Covid-19, some technical equipment can't be transported to Tajikistan in time and the project, which is called the largest project in Central Asia, is forced to delay going into operation.
The construction of the project commenced in summer 2018 and 80% of the construction has been finished so far. According the original plan, the project will go into formal operation in October 2020 and it will become the largest antimony producer in Central Asia after realizing full produciton capacity with gold and antimony annual outputs expected to be 25,000t and 21,000t respectively.
