Chinese magnesia market: prices of some specifications of high grade magnesia declined in China in July as producers bore greater pressure of stocks affected by the start of the rainy season, but prices of low grade magnesia kept stable during the month supported by high production costs. The government of Haicheng, Liaoning stopped supplying explosives to local magnesite mines in early July, which stabilized prices of magnesite, caustic calcined magnesia, dead burned magnesia and other products. However, prices of high purity dead burned magnesia and fused magnesia, which could use flotation powder as raw material, declined once again affected by large volumes of stocks.
Policy: The government of Haicheng stopped from supplying explosives to magnesite mines in early July and the government of Liaoyang followed the suit in mid-to-late July. However, the governments of Xiuyan and Dashiqiao didn't strictly implement the relative policy.
Overseas market: Overseas customers sent obviously more enquiries to Chinese magnesia exporters in July, but they didn't increase their purchases of the material actually affected by the summer break in most western countries. Export prices of Chinese high purity dead burned magnesia and fused magnesia dropped slightly duirng July affected by lower prices in the domestic market, while export prices of Chinese caustic calcined magnesia and dead burned magnesia went up slightly due to fir prices in the domestic market and the appreciation of RMB.
