Prices for section steel and steel pipe kept increasing in major Chinese domestic markets during the month. The upward price trend of raw materials strengthened market participants' confidence and stimulated steel mills to move up prices in succession. With low stockpiles in hand, traders were not burdened with sales pressures and eager to lift prices, despite the slow market. End users purchased from hand to mouth and refused to build stocks, with wait-and-see attitudes. Though the downstream industry recovered day by day, the rigid demand remained insufficient dragged by the high temperature and floods in South China.
