China's bauxite imports up by 30.28% YOY in H1 2020

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 31 Jul 20 - According to China Customs, China imported about 58.3 million tonnes of bauxite in the first half of 2020, up by 30.28% compared the same period of last year. China's import volume of bauxite in June was about 10.40 million tonnes, up by 9.37% MOM and 17.6% YOY.
In H1 2020, China's bauxite imports from Guinea totaled about 27.30 million tonnes, down by 1.16% YOY; those from Australia totaled about 18.60 million tonnes, up by 16.74% YOY; those from Indonesia amounted to about 10.50 million tonnes, up by 54.16% YOY.
In June, China imported about 5.03 million tonnes of bauxite from Guinea, the biggest source country in the month, with a month-on-month increase of 21.67%. Australia ranked as the second biggest source country, from which China imported about 3.24 million tonnes, down by 0.37% MOM. China imported about 1.9 million tonnes from Indonesia, the third biggest source country, up by 4.3% MOM.
In June, China's bauxite imports from Turkey were 166,413 tonnes, up from zero in May; those from Solomon Islands were 55,739 tonnes, down by 48.05% MOM; those from Ghana were 50,804 tonnes, down by 58.77% MOM.
