MEE: China to ban all solid waste imports in 2021

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) of China will further reduce imports of solid waste including scrap metal as planned in the second half of 2020, said Liu Youbin, spokesman for MEE at a press briefing on June 30. China plans to ban all solid waste imports starting in 2021 and MEE will no longer accept or approve applications for imports of solid waste from then on.
