1. Market Highlights
Supported by reducing supply and higher raw materials' prices, prices of CRC and HGI coil in Chinese leading markets rebounded by around RMB300/t (USD42/t) and RMB200/t (USD28/t) respectively in May. However, as the demand growth was limited, the market performance weakened in late May. Steel mills were still not very active in CRC and HGI coil production due to thin margin profit.
In the international market, CRC and HGI coil prices in many Asian countries like Malaysia, Vietnam and India showed some signs of moving up but the markup was much smaller than it was in China, as the market in these countries remained dull after the COVID-19. Chinese CRC and HGI coil export prices kept going up this month encouraged by the sharp rise in domestic market.
