Hargreaves Services to cease coal mining operations

Hargreaves Services has revealed plans to end its coal mining operations later this year.
The Durham-based group said it had decided to cease all coal mining operations by July 2020 in line with its long-term strategic plan. As a result, the company is set to incur an exceptional cost of ￡3.7m in the year ended 31 May 2020.
Hargreaves is one of the largest remaining coal operators in the UK, operating primarily across sites in Scotland.
