Miao Wei, the minister from China's MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) responded to hot issues such as new energy vehicle and 5G on May 25th when he was accepting a video interview on the Minister Channel.

He disclosed that new energy vehicle production capacity in April 2020 basically reached the level of the same period last year, adding the ministry is confident in the future development of the industry. The ministry will continue to focus on development in supply side, demand side and use side in the next step.

As for the supply side, MIIT will further strengthen reforms to streamline administration, delegate powers, and improve regulation and services, loosen restrictions on contract manufacturing of new energy vehicles and allow enterprises with testing capabilities to carry out self-testing and self-certification to reduce repeated testing. To annotative new energy enterprises, the brand authorization pilots policy will be carried out.

As for the demand side, in addition to implementing the fiscal and tax supporting policies, MIIT will also encourage the development of electric vehicle switching mode and boost local governments to use more new energy vehicles in the public service area, thereby expanding the demand for new energy vehicles .

As for the use side, MIIT will step up the construction of charging facilities and enhance their interconnectivity. In addition, MIIT also encourage local governments to formulate preferential policies for the use of new energy vehicles, such as parking and traffic.
