Chilean miner Antofagasta said it has managed to keep copper production at normal level despite that Chile, the world's biggest copper producing country, took measures to cut workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ivan Arriagada, Chief Executive Officer at Antofagasta's London operation, said that the company's sales and shipments have not been seriously affected as of now although the pandemic put a sudden halt to global economy.
"We have seen the demand for refined copper rebounding following a drop in the first quarter," he said, "We expect to see an oversupply of refined copper this year but there are still many uncertainties."
