EIA expects coal output in the U.S. to decline by 22.2% YOY in 2020

Coal output in the U.S. is expected to be 523 million short tons (474 million tons) in 2020, down by 24.2% from the output of 690 million short tons in 2019, according to the Short-term Energy Outlook released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on May 12.
The latest expected output for 2020 is down by 6.1% from April's expectation of 557 million short tons. The EIA expects U.S. coal output to be about 550 million short tons in 2021, down by 6.6% from April's forecast.
U.S. coal exports are expected to be 63.2 million short tons in 2020, down by 31.97% from 2019 and up by 0.8% from April's forecast.
The latest expected output for 2020 is down by 6.1% from April's expectation of 557 million short tons. The EIA expects U.S. coal output to be about 550 million short tons in 2021, down by 6.6% from April's forecast.
