1.Market Highlights
Domestic tungsten market in April: In early April, domestic tungsten product prices maintained a downward trend of March. In early April, most suppliers lowered prices in order to obtain more orders due to difficulties in selling. However, with the price of tungsten products constantly approaching the production cost, in mid-April, tungsten product suppliers held back from selling because of their thin profits. Tungsten concentrate suppliers were not willing to sell materials supported by cost, and most suppliers raised prices and held prices firm. In late April, the overall prices for tungsten products basically stopped falling, and showed a slight upward trend. The prices for tungsten concentrate, APT and ferrotungsten began to increase slightly in the mid-late April. However, as the demand in the international market and the domestic market remained weak, the increase was relatively small. Due to the weak end demand, the overall tungsten scrap market operated slowly and prices did not change much.
Foreign tungsten market in April: As the international market saw limited enquiries of tungsten products, most buyers held a wait-and-see attitude towards the market outlook. Due to the weak demand, they refused to carry out large purchases. The export prices for tungsten products continued to move down. However, due to firm domestic prices, prices for tungsten products remained stable in late April.
