  • Chinese government publicizes results on second round eco-environmental inspections

    2020-05-09 17:31:53   [Print]
From May 8 on, feedback on the second round of first-batch central government inspection on ecological environmental protection was announced to the public, which meant in the coming week six provinces and two central state-owned enterprises covered by the second round inspection will be put in the spotlight for their deficiencies or faults found in the inspection.

Fujian province was the first province criticized by the inspection group on the morning of May 8 as some regions in the province still attached more value on local economic development than on eco-environmental protection, and some regions even sacrificed eco-environmental protection for local economic development.

In July 2019, Chinese central government launched the second round of first-batch ecological and environmental inspection, dispatching eight inspection groups to six provinces (Shanghai, Fujian, Hainan, Chongqing, Gansu and Qinghai) and two central state-owned enterprises (China Minmetals and ChemChina). This was the first time that central state-owned enterprises were included into central eco-environmental inspections.
