Due to the low operating rate of downstream clients, the brown fused alumina saw slow buying activities in March. In order to win more orders, Chinese brown fused alumina suppliers lowered the prices. However, the market remained slow in spite of price decline. Therefore, the prices of Chinese brown fused alumina moved down in March.
In March, the overall prices of Chinese white fused alumina rose first and then fell. In the first half of March, due to the increasing price of raw material alumina powder with the tight supply of alumina, the prices of Chinese white fused alumina moved up accordingly. In the second half of March, with the price decline of raw material alumina powder as most alumina plants resumed production since mid-March, the prices of Chinese white fused alumina moved down.
With the price decline of brown fused alumina and white fused alumina in China, the export prices of brown fused alumina and white fused alumina decreased accordingly this month. However, the export market saw slow buying activities due to the weak demand with outbreak of COVID-19 in overseas.
Due to the stable demand and sufficient supply in European and Indian market, the European and Indian market saw slow buying activities and both of the prices of brown fused alumina and white fused alumina remained unchanged this month.
