"Yunnan green steel city" project plans to complete construction and start production by 2023

From August 2 to 4, 2018, when Chen Hao, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee visited Yuxi for investigation and research, he explicitly asked Yuxi to make every effort to build "Yunnan green steel city" project to promote the high-quality and great-leap-forward development of economy. The Yuxi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government coordinated at a high level and decided to move the integrated transformation and upgrading and capacity transfer project of Yukun Iron and Steel Group in Hongta District to Huanian District of Eshan County, developing together as a cluster with the neighboring technological transformation project of Xinping Xianfu Iron and Steel Technology and building "Yunnan green steel city" project.
Yunnan green steel city project is located in Yuxi City-level Huanian-Dakaimen Industrial Park, 60km away from the downtown of Yuxi. With a planned area of about 60 square kilometers, the project includes two parts, Yukun and Xianfu, and will have a total investment RMB36.5 billion (USD5.15 billion). After the completion of construction, it can reach a steel capacity of 8.13 million tons, with the annual output value of RMB56 billion (USD7.90 billion) and the annual profit and tax of more than RMB3.5 billion (USD494 million). The total planned investment for related infrastructure supporting projects is RMB7 billion (USD988 million).
Among the two parts, Yukun project has a planned total investment of RMB21.2 billion (USD2.99 billion). Upon completion, it will annually produce 5.15 million tons of crude steel and 10.25 million tons of steel products, with an output value of RMB36 billion (USD5.08 billion) and the logistics volume of 30 million tons. Xianfu project has a planned total investment of RMB8.3 billion (USD1.17 billion). Upon completion, it can see an annual output of 2.98 million tons crude steel and 2.4 million tons steel products and reach an output value of RMB20 billion (USD2.82 billion), the profit and tax of RMB1.5 billion (USD212 million) and the logistics volume of 17.4 million tons.
At present, the relocation of Yukun project and the technological transformation of Xianfu Iron and Steel are progressing steadily and are planned to be completed and put into operation in 2023. At the same time, related departments and units are stepping up the overall plan for Yunnan green steel city project, actively integrating the original city and county-level industrial parks to apply for provincial industrial parks, and preparing for the establishment of the Yunnan Green Steel City Management Committee.
