    1. Market Highlights

In February, impacted by COVID-19, the transportation in the two weeks after the Spring Festival was impeded, therefore, supply of manganese ore was restricted seriously. Downstream consumers had to accept higher prices to guarantee production.Asian Metal Copyright1.Asian Metal Copyright But after mid-February, many traders cut prices for sales with logistics recovering and stocks at Tianjin port standing high, leading to a price decline of manganese ore.

In early February, restricted by the blocked transportation, silicomanganese bids from steel mills in both North and South China rose sharply. But then the prices fell quickly after mid-February as the logistics recovered but steel mills cut production and producers held more inventory.

Restricted by the impeded logistics in early February, steel mills found difficulty in sourcing raw material, so they raised bids for HC and MC ferromanganese; but after mid-February, with logistics recovering and steel mills cutting production for less demand, producers generally reduced offers, making prices decrease constantly till the end of the month.
