Japan's steel products exports up by 14.2% YOY in Jan

Japan exported 2.811 million tonnes of steel products in January 2020, up by 14.2% from January 2019, the first year-on-year increase in four months, according to preliminary statistics released by the Ministry of Finance.
In January, Japan exported most of steel products to Asia with the export volume up by 7.7% YOY to 2.086 million tonnes. Japan exported 394,000 tonnes to China in the month, up by 3.4% YOY; Japan exported 449,000 tonnes to South Korea, up by 15.1% YOY; Japan exported 844,000 tonnes to ASEAN, down by 3.2% YOY.
In January, Japan's steel products export volume to the Middle East was 132,000 tonnes, up sharply by 109% YOY; that to Russia was 10,000 tonnes, down by 19.5% YOY; that to U.S. was 69,000 tonnes, down by 45% YOY; that to EU was around 13,000t, down by 47.6% YOY.
