1. Market Highlights
In January, transactions for imported manganese ore decreased gradually in China with the Spring Festival approaching. In the middle of the month, manganese ore traders received new goods, but affected by tight logistics, some traders cut prices slightly for sales in order to recoup money. Therefore, prices for imported manganese ore edged down by late January.
In early January, major steel mills in North and South China all raised bids, pulling up spot prices for silicomanganese. After mid-January, some silicomanganese producers in North China cut offers due to heavy stocks and the dealing prices stayed stable due to ceased logistics. The silicomanganese prices in South China were also unchanged with many plants halting production for maintenance.
In January, with steel mills' bids rising, spot prices for HC and MC ferromanganese increased accordingly. Then in mid-January, the transactions decreased significantly as logistics ceased approaching the Spring Festival, but producers generally insisted offers till late this month.
