UK-based GFG Alliance plans to merge its aluminum assets into a new company, ALVANCE Aluminum Group, headquartered in Paris, it said on Monday.
The move follows the consolidation of GFG Alliance's steel businesses into a single global entity, Liberty Steel Group, in October last year.
ALVANCE Aluminum Group, with more than 1,700 people, comprise Europe's largest aluminum smelter, Alvance Aluminum Dunkerque; the UK's only remaining aluminum smelter at Fort William, Scotland; Alvance Wheels, France's only manufacturer of aluminum wheels in Chateauroux; and engine cast part producers Alvance Aluminum Technologies Poitou and Alvance Cast Products Poitou.
The new aluminum entity will, like Liberty, be committed to becoming carbon-neutral by 2030.
