Anyang changes heavy air pollution alert level from orange to red

Henan would experience heavy air pollution from December 12 to 18, according to the local authority's prediction on December 9. In order to effectively reduce emissions of air pollutants, the office for environmental pollution prevention and control of Anyang government decided to change the heavy air pollution alert level from orange to red starting at 12:00 a.m. on December 12.
Anyang Iron and Steel Group Corporation is required to shut down two sintering furnaces, one blast furnace, with another blast furnace preheated for 120 hours. Any abnormal operation of environmentally-unfriendly facility is strictly prohibited. Other steel companies in Anyang are required to shut down sintering furnaces and the running blast furnaces should be preheated for 120 hours.
For coking industries, coking furnaces with height above 4.3 meters shall extend coking time to 36 hours, and those with height of 4.3 meters shall extend coking time to 48 hours.
For companies that are required to relocate from city to industrial park but fail to do so within the appointed period, they are required to suspend production starting at 12:00 a.m. on December 12.
