According to the Standing Committee of Yuhuatai District People's Congress of Nanjing, in the second half of next year, the new plant of Meishan Steel in Yancheng will be built. It is planned to take three years. After three years, Meishan Steel in Nanjing will start to move to the new plant.
According to the introduction, in the second half of 2020, the new plant of Meishan Yancheng Binhai Industrial Park will be built, with a planned construction time of 36 months and a planned layout of 20 million tons of high-quality steel projects. The project is planned at one time and implemented in stages. The capacity of the first phase is 8-10 million tons and the investment is RMB50 billion (USD7.10 billion). After the completion, Meishan Steel will gradually move from Nanjing Banqiao.
On December 1, 2018, Baosteel Co., Ltd. issued a notice to clarify the relocation schedule of Meishan Steel for the first time: both the government and the enterprise will strive to use 10 years. By the end of 2028, the iron and steel smelting capacity will gradually move out of Nanjing. The existing Meishan Steel plant will lay out new industries, build new industrial cities, and realize the transformation and upgrading in Meishan Steel area. However, the planning of Meishan Steel after relocation is in progress. It is expected to complete the industrial planning after the relocation of Meishan Steel area in the first half of next year.
