Prices of non-grain oriented electrical steel in major markets of China went down further early this month on weak customer demand and the decrease in steel mills' list prices, but rebounded a little bit late this month mainly supported the low market inventory and the price increase of other steel products such as HRC and CRC. Those of grain oriented electrical steel kept the downward trend during this month on weak demand from downstream industries. Major steel mills such as Baosteel, WISCO and Ansteel announced to reduce their list prices of NGO electrical steel produced in December. Customers were mostly purchasing materials for urgent need and placing orders sparingly. Because of the high purchase cost and weak customer demand, traders were reluctant to build large stockpiles.
