1. Market Highlights
In October, imported manganese ore prices decreased a lot as overseas suppliers cut offers and transactions for the material were limited with downstream only purchasing on demand.
Silicomanganese producers generally held large inventory and some suppliers cut offers to relieve stock pressure, while downstream consumers bargained aggressively considering lower manganese ore prices, so the prices for silicomanganese went down sharply in October.
Before mid-October, the HC ferromanganese market saw stable sales, but the prices edged down dragged down by manganese ore prices. After mid-October, the prices slumped as some suppliers who held large inventory began to cut offers. MC ferromanganese prices were close to cost in the first half month, so producers had no intention to cut prices, but in the second half month, with prices for silicomanganese and manganese ore decreasing constantly, MC ferromanganese prices also went down significantly.
