On 7 November, Gao Feng, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, disclosed at the press conference that China and U.S. chief representatives had serious and constructive discussions on properly solving core concerns of each party over the past two weeks and agreed to cancel additional tariffs by stages with the progress of agreement.
According to Gao Feng, if China and the United States reach the first stage agreement, the two parties should follow articles of the agreement and cancel additional tariffs that have been imposed in a simultaneous and equivalent manner, which is a significant condition for concluding an agreement.
